Let us present the new master-piece of SLACKTIVITY – the «KingPin» Aluminum shackle compliant with EN362.
The world’s first aluminum shackle with Quickpin that is certified for the rope access (industrial climbing) standard EN362 and meets the ISA52 Highline connector standard.
The elegant and functional design has been tested, analyzed and further developed in countless 3D-print-models. This aluminium shackle weighs only 107g (incl. PushPin and rubber cord), has a minimal breaking strength of 48kN, and is made of aircraft aluminium (AL7075).
The shape, features and function of the aluminium shackle have been developed especially for the needs of slackliners. The mouth opening of 26mm width allows optimal handling to clip end loops, the deadManplate, softRelease and 25mm-webbings. The high side plates offer perfect guidance for softRelease or primitive pulleys.
The spacey bow of the shackle offers enough space for round slings or the SLACKTIVITY tree loops. The areas standing 120° to one another allow that chainlocks lie at a perfect angle on the shackle surface. The PushPin made of stainless steel with 11.2mm diameter has been weight-optimized and is super easy to use. The rubber cord connects to the free turning PushPin with the shackle body. With some exercise, the KingPin can even be handled one-handed, which can be very useful, especially in highline use.

Recommended area of ​​use
Any soft connections (EndLoop, softRelease to slings, etc.) in slackline systems and connections to the deadManPlate. We advise against hanging the KingPin directly into bolts or other hard connections (steel is harder than aluminum), as this can lead to scratches on the surface of the KingPin.

The best shackle you can buy at the moment.
It it lightweight, easy to use, hard to make mistakes like not tightening enough or having a pin undo itself when bouncing around (Yes rare but still technically a worry).
The large MBS should mitigate cyclic loading issues on most lines and I feel confident using this shackle.
I initially only ordered two, but have since ordered more to use for my main as well as for my backups and soft releases because of just how nice they are to use.
