Skinners – The Best Slackline Shoes
Since we started slacklining, we have been searching for the perfect slackline shoes. Now, after more than a decade, we’ve found them! Skinners are not really shoes, and not quite socks either. They are the perfect combination: they keep the natural sense of touch in your feet while offering great grip on the slackline. Mission complete!
Of course, they are also a great product when you’re not on a slackline. Think about walking to your slackline or highline spot, travelling light, camping, training indoors, or simply using them for other barefoot-style activities.

Comfort or Compression – which Skinners should I choose?
We now offer two versions of Skinners: Comfort and Compression.
- Skinners Comfort: The ankle-height version with a relaxed fit and wider toe box. They are easier to put on and take off, and are a great choice if you want maximum comfort, a natural barefoot feel, and casual everyday use.
- Skinners Compression: The higher and snugger version, designed for a more secure hold on the foot. They are harder to slip off accidentally, making them the better choice for more extreme slackliners and active use where extra support and stability matter.
For slacklining, both versions work well. Choose Comfort if you prefer an easy, relaxed fit. Choose Compression if you want a tighter, more secure fit that stays firmly on your feet while training.

The SLACKTIVITY team and Samuel Volery have extensively tested the Skinners as slacklining shoes:
- Alpine-highline-approved: Keep your feet warm thanks to the cotton component
- Indoor-training-approved: Free of marks on sports hall flooring. You sweat surprisingly little in the Skinners, even with a sweaty indoor workout
- Good to know: Skinners may lose a few crumbs from the rubber coating during the first use. So far, all Skinners we tested have been washed at 40 °C.

They are really light and good grip on the line, Good feeling and very comfy, they adapt on any surface and has a real feet to the ground feeling. For the transport they are small and fits even in pocket.

Light weight, comfortable, good grip on the line, so it’s a good option for those who don’t like so slack-line bare foot. Little downside : it’s not ideal to use it with socks (e.g., if it’s cold) because it can slip inside. Furthermore, if you use it quite often on a slackline, then the Skinners will be worn out quickly (unfortunately like a lot of minimalist shoes)

These shoe-socks are just a game changer! Incredibly easy to pack for travel or on a busy day. They feel superb on the line (even making some moves easier) and allow to practice on rocky terrain without fear of hurting your feet.
They are just also awesome to wear in general. For training, for walking outdoor, small hikes!
And the Slacktivity team was great helping me out with this purchase!
I would just add that they are maybe made a bit large compare to usual sizing for shoes. There is a sizing chart you can print and use on the Skinners website!
